Inclement Weather Policy

Student safety is our primary concern and therefore serious consideration is given prior to making a decision regarding the canceling of school. We will strive to always advise our congregants and community via several methods. During periods of inclement weather, please check the religious school’s home page (www.whcreligiousschool.com), where we will post announcements of any closings of the facilities. In addition, we will set our phone system to provide an automated response for callers, advising them of any facility closings. Please call the religious school office at (301) 354-3223 for this announcement. 

School closings will always be at the discretion of the Acting Religious School Director in consultation with the Executive Director. In making decisions for weekday classes, we will automatically follow the Montgomery County Public School (for Tuesdays) and the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS for Tuesday nights and Wednesday afternoons). If MCPS or DCPS close, close early, or cancel afternoon activities because of inclement weather, we will follow suit.

One should still check to verify the status of religious school by calling the religious school office at 301-354-3223 or by checking WTOP.

A decision will be made no later than 7:30 am on Sundays and 2:00 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Note: We do not close for MCPS or DCPS teacher in-service days.
